I love to try new bases and in the past 2 months (yes we already 2 months into the year!) I’ve been playing with several new bases and I’m super impressed and excited to share with you guys. Today I wanted to review the Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation which is a recent launch and I’m super excited about this as Laura Mercier is known for a good base. It’s been a while since Laura Mercier has released a new base so this definitely has a lot of good expectations and I’m excited to review this little guy.
The Candleglow foundation provides a light to medium coverage which buildable and the idea behind this foundation when Laura created it was to provide a ‘lit from within glow’ and provide a glowy complexion. The foundation comes in 24 shades which covers a broad spectrum from very fair to very dark. The foundation is priced at £35 which is average for Laura Mercier and the majority of high end brands.
The packaging is housed in a beautiful frosted glass jar and this just looks super luxe compared to their Silk Creme Foundation which is housed in a plastic bottle. I’m such a sucker for the packaging and the pump doesn’t dispense too much product and I find one pump is enough for my whole face. This foundation compares to my beloved Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua with the same level of glow and finish and I’ve been switching between the two.
Before and After
I’m in the shade Dune which I think is a perfect match for me, looking at the tone spectrum Dune lies between neutral and cool tone but there is a shade for everyone ranging from cool to warm tones. I apply this using either my beauty blender or a buffing brush for added coverage and it just glides seamlessly onto my skin providing a dewy finish. The wear time of this foundation is also excellent and it’s definitely super long wearing on myself personally. I find that I have to blot maybe towards the end of the day which is amazing and it doesn’t oxidize throughout the day either.
The finished look-
Overall I am super impressed with this new foundation and I have been reaching for this on days where I need that extra little push with my skin and seriously guys it looks like you had 8 hours sleep when you really haven’t. Sounds good eh? If you like more of a light to medium finish then this is for you but if you have super oily skin or prefer a matte finish then I’ll pass on this one. I definitely recommend picking this one up if you after a new base to invest in. I have been wearing this just before it launched at the end of January and I am super impressed with it.
Have you given this a go yet? You can find it and get color matched with a 5 day sample now at any Laura Mercier counter.
